The latest actors to join Chloe in The Equalizer are David Meunier, Melissa Leo & Haley Bennet. Haley was the latest actor to be announced:

Haley Bennett is continuing with her busy schedule, signing on for a role in Sony‘s redo of The Equalizer. Denzel Washington stars alongside Chloe Moretz and Melissa Leo, and Antoine Fuqua is directing. Bennett, whose earlier credits include The Haunting Of Molly Hartley and Marley & Me, has completed a string of movies in the past year including the untitled Terence Malick film opposite Christian Bale; the psychological thriller Kristy for the Weinstein Company; and Things People Do co-starring Wes Bentley.

Bennett, repped by CAA and The Schiff Co, next shoots indie drama The White City, which will be co-directed by writer Tanner King Barklow (from the Oscar-nommed The Invisible War) and Gil Kofman. Thomas Dekker and Bob Morley also star in the story of an emotionally charged love triangle between three young artists that develops against the hot political climate of modern Tel Aviv.

Chloe has been cast in another movie called The White Circus which will also star her Hugo co star, Asa Butterfield.

Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield — the young stars of Martin Scorsese’s Hugo — are attached to “The White Circus,” a dark fairy tale exec produced by Terry Gilliam.

“Circus” is the first full-length directorial effort from Canadians Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, who earned recognition in Hollywood with their Oscar-nominated animated short “Madame Tutli-Putli.”

Another of their shorts, “Higglety Pigglety Pop,” was produced by Spike Jonze and starred the voice talent of Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker.

“Circus” is an adventure-romance that takes place on a snowy New Year’s Eve, when a young pilot crashes his plane into a war-torn town on his first mission. There, he falls in love with a beautiful cabaret singer, befriends a talking circus bear and incites the townsfolk to liberate themselves from a despot.

Pic also stars Andrea Riseborough and Christian Friedel (“The White Ribbon”).

“Chris and Maciek are the worthy heirs of Gilliam, Jim Henson and Tim Burton, yet their work boasts an ever bigger crossover appeal while being smart and innovative,” said Gregoire Melin at Kinology, which is producing and repping the pic in international markets.

“Circus” is also produced by Melissa Malkin and Dave Valleau of Canada’s Silo Corp., Stefan Arndt at Germany’s X-Filme Creative Pool and Andjelija Vlaisavljevic at Serbia’s Work in Progress.

“The White Circus” is due to start shooting in Germany and Serbia in February 2014.

Congrats to Chloe! She has been offered role of the female lead in The Equalizer with Denzel Washington after a strong reading with him.

A couple of intriguing developments have happened on The Equalizer. After a strong reading with Denzel Washington, Chloe Moretz is getting the offer from Sony Pictures to play the female lead in the drama that will re-team Training Day tandem Washington and Antoine Fuqua. At the same time, Michael Sloan, creator of the 1980s TV series, has made a deal to write an original novel for Thomas Dunne Books that will continue the adventures of Robert McCall, the shadowy character originated by Edward Woodward who’ll be played on the big screen by Washington.

Moretz is a surprise choice to play the role of Teri, in that the role was originally drawn for a twentysomething. After Moretz did a chemistry reading with Washington, he was very impressed as was everybody else, and the role will be redrawn for Moretz to play a young prostitute, reminiscent of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. Deal has to be made, but between this and the upcoming Kimberly Peirce-directed Carrie, that little girl from Kick-Ass is turning into a young woman who’s taking on some of the edgiest roles in town.

As for the the new book: It was acquired for the St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan Publishers imprint Thomas Dunne Books by editor Brendan Deneen, a movie-centric editor who also runs Macmillan Films and who also edits a line of bestsellers set in The Walking Dead universe. The novel will be published in early 2014 and focuses on the mysterious McCall, a former covert intelligence officer who helps desperate people who are in need of his unique and deadly set of skills. This sounds a bit like the terrific Luther prequel novel written by Neil Cross, creator of that BBC cop series that stars Idris Elba as the existentially tortured detective. Sloan’s book will be an original adventure for the Equalizer character, and not a novelization of the movie which Sony has set for an April 11, 2014 release of what the studio hopes will be the start of a franchise. Richard Wenk wrote the script and Escape Artists partners Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing along with Alex Siskin, Mace Neufeld, Sloan and Tony Eldridge, with David Bloomfield exec producing. Nicholas Hoult has joined Dark Places which also stars Charlize Theron! Chloe is currently in talks to star in the movie.

Chloe Moretz is in negotiations to join Charlize Theron in the thriller Dark Places. The actress would play a character named Diondra in the adaptation of the Gillian Flynn mystery novel, about a woman forced to re-face the massacre of her family over two decades before. Deadline broke the story in early February that Theron was on board. In the film, Theron, who is co-producing through her Denver and Delilah Productions, plays Libby Day, a woman who 25 years ago testified against her brother as the killer of their family. Now a group called the Kill Club believes he is innocent and is out to prove it. Gilles Paquet-Brenner is writing and directing the adaptation of the 2009 book. Exclusive Media is fully financing and producing alongside Denver and Delilah.

Deadline recently broke the story that Moretz is in talks, along with Anne Hathaway and Sam Rockwell, for the Lynn Shelton-directed comedy Laggies. She is reprising her Hit-Girl role in Kick-Ass 2 later this summer and as the lead in the Carrie reboot in the fall. Moretz is repped by WME and 3 Arts.

An awkward young man, Lyle is the treasurer of the Kill Club, the group investigating the case of the killing of the family of Libby Day (Theron) As Deadline broke earlier this week, Chloe Moretz is in talks to join the Exclusive Media and Denver and Delilah Productions produced film too. Gilles Paquet-Brenner is writing and directing the adaptation of the 2009 book. Hoult was recently seen in the zombie romance Warm Bodies and Warner Bros’ Jack The Giant Slayer and will be in the upcoming Mad Max Fury Road, also with Theron. He’ll also be in X-Men Days of Future Past and Young Ones. Hoult is repped by UTA and 42.
